Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic effective against gram-positive bacteria. In particular, teicoplanin is used to treat MRSA and other bacteria resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. Teicoplanin is produced by Actinoplanes teichomiceticus and works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is comparable to vancomycin in its efficacy and antimicrobial spectrum.
