Working with the Post-Brexit Trade Deal

A trade deal between the UK and EU was agreed on the 24th December 2020 and signed by both parties on the 30th December 2020, before coming into effect on 1st January 2021.

As a supplier of goods to most EU countries we welcomed the news of a trade deal, not least because it finally gives us some clarity on how we can continue to work with our most important single market from 1st January 2021.

The key point of the deal as far as we are concerned is that the deal offers zero tariffs and zero quotas.

With regards to the chemical industry specifically, the EU REACH Regulation was brought into UK law (as UK REACH) on 1 January 2021. This will enable us to continue supplying with total compliance to EU REACH.

We would like to reassure our EU customers that Glentham Life Sciences is committed to providing the same level of service and will be aiming for a 'business as usual' approach for the EU market. Our primary warehouse is to remain in the UK and later this month we will begin relocation to a newly renovated >2000m² facility.

In the early weeks of the New Year there is potential for slight delays as our couriers and freight companies get up to speed with new procedures. However, Glentham already exports goods to most countries around the world and we are confident that we can use this experience to minimise any disruption.

If we can assist with any matters relating to import, tariffs, logistics or documentation, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to working with you in 2021 and wish you a Happy New Year!
